Where Would I Work As A Financial Compliance Manager?

Any organisation involved in Financial Services.  Banks, Mortgage Lenders, Loan Companies and Credit card companies are the obvious companies to find a Financial Compliance Manager.  Credit unions, insurance companies, utilities companies and mobile phone companies also offer credit and therefore need to abide by FCA regulations.

What Does a Financial Compliance Manager Do?

As a Financial Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that the organisation you work for operates within the parameters set by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).  You will need to make liase with the Human Resources department to ensure that all Sales staff are abiding by the FCA rules and regulations when selling Financial products, by keeping them up to date with changes.

You will also work with Senior Managers / Directors to ensure they are aware of the processes and controls they must implement, approving advertisements; as well as investigate breaches of Financial regulations and provide any information demanded by the FCA.

What Qualifications And Skills Do I Need?

A Degree, preferably in Finance, Accountancy or related fields is required.  Level 4 Diploma for Financial Advisors is often a requirement.

To be successful in the role, you need to be able to multi-task, be analytical, well organised, work well in a team, have great communication skills, be ethical, stay calm under pressure, be self motivated and proactive, have good IT skills and be positive and confident.

How Much Can I Earn?

Salaries vary nationally, here in Greater Manchester, Financial Compliance roles typically pay £20,000 – £60,000, with some more senior roles paying upwards of £80,000.
