Looking for a career in biosciences? You’ve never had it so good!

Did you know the UK’s biomedical science industry is growing fast? Including in the North-West.  UK Trade & Investment’s Life Sciences Organisation has announced figures this month to show how international investment has more than doubled over the last year, creating over 5500 new jobs, and that the UK continues to have Europe’s fastest growing bioscience sector in Europe.  If you’ve got the right skillset, there are plenty of career opportunities out there for you.

In the North-West, growth is being led by small and specialist companies that are at the forefront of cutting edge research.  Small and new businesses in purpose-built science parks across the region are always on the lookout for people with the right knowledge or skills to help them grow.  There’s so much going on here, from research in genetics and microbiology, to manufacturing and quality management, that there will be a position out there just for you.

The sector is dominated by highly specialised businesses with specific requirements for applicants, so it’s important to know what your core scientific skills are and to bring them to an employer’s attention.

Do you have experience using specialist scientific equipment? Perhaps you worked in the science sector in the past. If so, don’t hide these details away in your employment or education history: make sure it’s the first thing we read on your CV.

Even if you aren’t scientifically trained, there are still opportunities in non-technical roles too.  Have you got experience with handling confidential or sensitive information?  What about sales experience in a highly technical sector?

Whatever your experience, the biomedical science industry in the North-West is booming.  There’s never been a better time for new opportunities, so take a look at our current scientific vacancies to make sure you don’t miss out.
