Just because you’re good at speaking to people, doesn’t mean you can’t be trusted with the figures, right?
While most orders come from their extensive product catalogue, many customers need bespoke solutions, so you’ll be going back and forth with suppliers to secure competitive quotations so you can generate the best price for the sales team secure the order. Excel will do most of the calculations for you but because you’ve got a good head for figures, so you’ll be able to spot if anything has gone wrong and manipulate formulas and pivot tables if you need to tweak things to offer the best deals for a key customer like B&Q.
The job is fast-paced, and sometimes deadlines can be tight. But while there might be pressure, just like in any job, your managers, David and Chris, started at the bottom with the company; they know how it feels when the pressure is on. And to help unwind after work, there are regular team nights out (and the odd trip to the races too!).
There’s no getting dropped in the deep end though. In your first few months, David and Chris will guide you through everything you need to know, from the systems to the range of products offered. And as you’ll be joining a growing company, there will be room for you to progress (on top of annual salary reviews) so you won’t be staying in the same job forever.
