Just because you work with them every day, doesn’t mean you need to feel like a number too.
Even though you’ll be joining an accountancy practice with branches nationally, you’ll still be part of the family here. The payroll team you’ll be joining are very easy-going, so you’ll get a warm welcome – just be prepared to make a round of brews in return.
You’ll be working on an end-to-end payroll portfolio of up to 100 clients, all with different quirks and deadlines, but your background in a fast-paced bureau or accountancy environment will help you keep on top of things. The plan is to double this team in size over the next 12 months to 16 people, so there will be opportunities for you to take on more responsibilities as the team grows, such as lead a team, or work with the partners on projects for clients.
Between your colleagues, there’s nothing they haven’t seen when it comes to payroll, so there’s always someone to ask if something comes up you’ve not dealt with before. Lorraine is the expert when it comes to software though, so it’s not a problem if you’ve not used Star before. You will be able to work flexible hours so if you need a long lunch to pick something up in Stockport, or just want to start early and miss the traffic, then you can. And once you’ve settled in, you could get support for your CIPP qualification to help you in the future.
